Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad, who opened the innings for his team, hit a total of 12 sixes in the 2016 T20 World Cup. It was the record number of sixes for an Asian right-handed batsman in an edition of the T20 World Cup history.
His most sixes in a match of that tournament was against South Africa at Mumbai on 20th March 2016 (in the Super 10 Stage), where he provided a powerful start in an unsuccessful chasing of 210 runs as the right-handed batsman scored 44 runs off just 19 balls with the help of 3 fours and 5 sixes.
