In the crunch game against England in the opener of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, the Bangladesh cricket team started off well, as the first wicket pair of Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar shared 56 runs before Sarkar gave an easy catch to substitute fielder Jonny Bairstow off Ben Stokes.

Though it did not have an impact on team’s playing style, as runs were coming easily and their batsmen were right back on the track, churning out runs for themselves.

Meanwhile, when Bangladesh was nearing a score of 100, they suffered another jitter when a smart piece of the catch from Mark Wood ended the innings of Imrul Kayes.

It was the second delivery of 20th over from Liam Plunkett which the batsman played casually towards mid-on, where there was no fielder placed but suddenly, Wood came on running and pouched the catch just inches above the ground. It was a great effort from him, as already he was moving towards his left side and the effort put in by him paid fruits.

The acrobatic efforts resulted in the second wicket of the day and Bangladesh was two down on a score of 95 then.

Looking at the performance of Bangladesh in the previous game against India, the score looks to be a big one and they might finish around a score of 280-300 if they continue their form.

Meanwhile, England has suffered a big blow, as all-rounder Chris Woakes, who left the field after bowling two overs has been ruled out of the game, which means that the hosts will miss out on a player in both the departments of the game.
