- After dismissing Bangladeshi batsman Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja becomes the most wicket taker for India in the ICC Champions Trophy history. It was Jadeja’s 16th wicket in this tournament history, while the previous record was 15 wickets by former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan.
- Bangladesh was awarded five penalty runs during their innings. It is the second time in the ICC Champions Trophy history when a team is awarded five penalty runs. The first such incident was between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at Colombo (RPS) on 12th September 2002, where Pakistan received five penalty runs during their innings.
- Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan becomes the most runs scorer for India in the ICC Champions Trophy history. At the end of the match, Shikhar Dhawan had scored already 680 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy history. Through this innings, Dhawan surpassed former Indian batsman Sourav Ganguly who had scored total 665 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy history.
- During this match, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli (8,008 runs) completed his 8,000 ODI runs. It was Kohli’s 175th ODI innings, which means Kohli becomes the fastest batsman to score 8,000 ODI runs (according to the no. of ODI innings). Kohli broke the record of AB de Villiers (South Africa) who had achieved this feat in his 182 ODI innings.
- Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli put a splendid unbroken 178-runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. It is India’s second highest partnership for any wicket in the ICC Champions Trophy history. India’s record partnership in this tournament history is 192 runs for the 1st wicket between Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly against England at Colombo (RPS) on 22nd September 2002.
Also, the unbroken 178-runs partnership is the joint second highest 2nd wicket partnership for any team in the ICC Champions Trophy history.
