2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Tournament Stats

On Thursday (14th March), Karnataka won the 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after beating Maharashtra in the final of the tournament.
A total of 37 teams participated in this tournament that ran from 21st February to 14th March. After the two stages of the round-robin system, Karnataka and Maharashtra reached the final of the competition. Karnataka won the final match of the tournament by eight wickets. It was Karnataka’s first title in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history.

Meanwhile, Ricky Bhui did that against Manipur at Mulapadu on 2nd March 2019. Those were the fastest half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history.
Second Fastest Centuries
- Shreyas Iyer (Mumbai) and Ricky Bhui (Andhra) both completed their centuries in 38 balls. Shreyas Iyer did that against Sikkim at Indore on 21st February 2019. Meanwhile, Ricky Bhui did that against Nagaland at Mulapadu on 22nd February 2019. Both those centuries were the second fastest centuries in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history. The record is 32-ball century by Rishabh Pant (Delhi) against Himachal Pradesh at Delhi on 14th January 2018. Also, both those centuries were the fourth fastest T20 centuries by the Indian batsmen.
Record Partnership
- Mumbai batsmen Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav put a 213-run partnership for the third wicket against Sikkim at Indore on 21st February 2019. It is the highest third-wicket partnership in T20 cricket history. The previous record was 184* runs partnership between Alex Hales and AB de Villiers (Rangpur Riders) against Dhaka Dynamites at Chattogram on 28th January 2019.
- Assam batsmen Amit Sinha and Rajjakuddin Ahmed put a 104-run unbroken partnership for the sixth wicket against Chhattisgarh at Cuttack on 24th February 2019. It is the highest sixth-wicket partnership in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history.
Successive victories
- Karnataka has won 14 consecutive T20 matches (streak hasn’t broken yet) by the end of the tournament. It is the joint second most T20 victories for a team on a trott.
