Barry Richard:
This former South African was born in a wrong era, many commentators have remarked. He played only four Test matches for South Africa national team. His international career was marred due to the apartheid era in South Africa which led to the isolation of the team in international cricket.
So, as a result, Barry plied his trade in club cricket in Durban for Natal, Hamshire in England and South Australia and the Kerry Packer World Series. His aggressive batting thrilled thousands of fans who attended those game. He was one of the finest batsmen in the 20th century. In first-class cricket, he scored 1000 runs in a season with nine-hundreds. But the South African fans will never forget the Durban Test in 1969-780 when Richards and Graeme Pollock flayed the Australian attack to all parts of the Kingsmead ground.
