Gautam Gambhir:
The World T20 and World Cup winning Indian opener has played 56 Test matches for India and scored 4046 runs at an average of 42.58. He played great innings in World T20 and World Cup final to help India to lift the trophies. In Test, there is no slot left for this Delhi batsman. He performed well in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders but that didn’t earn him a selection to the India’s Zimbabwe tour and Test tour in West Indies. He was dropped from the in 2012 for his bad form throughout the year, but in 2014 he was selected for England series where every member of the team succumbed to the swing at wet English pitch. So he was again dropped.
In ODI he was dropped after his failure to play a long innings in consecutive eight innings in 2014. But before that innings, he played outstandingly well. Now he is 34 and Indian team is congested with young batsmen and there are many youngsters are waiting for India call. So there is no question about his selection. BCCI only can host a farewell series for him.
Batsmen like KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan are contesting among them for opener slot.
