11th November 2007, Gautam Gambhir vs Shahid Afridi at Kanpur
An India-Pakistan cricket match always runs on Adrenaline. It was the 3rd ODI of 5-match ODI series between India and Pakistan in 2007 at Kanpur, where Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir collided with Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi.
India was batting first after losing the toss while Gautam Gambhir came to bat at no.3 position in that match and was struggling to score runs. The incident occurred in the 20th over when Gambhir and Afridi exchanged words after Gambhir hit a boundary.
On the very next delivery, when Gambhir was trying to take a quick single, there was a collision on the pitch between the duo. After that, both once again exchanged some words. At the end, umpire Ian Gould came to handle the situation which was quickly getting out of control.
For that incident, Afridi was fined 95% of his match fee (75% for the offence of inappropriate and deliberate physical contact and other 20% for the disrepute charge) while Gambhir was fined 65% of his match fee (50% for being found guilty of the offence of inappropriate and deliberate physical contact and other 15% for the disrepute charge).
