Indian Premier League (IPL) is a star-studded league where the major players around the world participate. The franchise tries to bag the service of the player who is famous in their home state. For instance, Mumbai Indians (MI) bought Sachin Tendulkar, who is Mumbai-born cricketer. Similarly, the eight franchise picked the star players of their state.
The strategy was followed to increase the interest of the fans and this would have also boosted them for staggering profits.
However, gradually, as home players lost their shine or because of age, they were released by the franchise.

1. Virender Sehwag – Delhi Daredevils
The Delhi-born Virender Sehwag was roped by Delhi Daredevils in the inauguration edition, IPL 2008. But the franchise got rid of the explosive batsman after the 2013 edition as his form dipped drastically. He was then roped in by Kings XI Punjab where he featured in two editions.
Initially, Sehwag was the star performer for the team as he led the team to the semi-final of the 2008 edition. He scored 406 runs in 14 matches in that season. However, he failed to give the trophy to the team though he maintained his consistency in the further season.
His formed dipped in 2013 when he only scored 295 runs in 13 matches at an average of 24.58. Thus, Delhi-based franchise released and he bought by KXIP where his form improved but he opted out of the league after 2015.
