5 World Cup winning heroes whose international career ended early 1
Bernard Julien

2. Colin Croft (West Indies – Prudential World Cup 1979)

Another former World Cup winning West Indian cricketer Colin Croft’s story was also similar as Bernard Julien. Colin Croft was one of the heroes of West Indies in the world cup winning campaign in Prudential World Cup 1979. The right-arm fast bowler was jointly highest wicket-taker for West Indies (8 wickets in 4 matches) in that tournament along with Michael Holding and Joel Garner (both picked up 8 wickets in 4 matches).

Like Bernard Julien, Colin’s international career also ended after serving for the rebel West Indies side that toured South Africa in 1982-83  (also in 1983-84). Colin’s international career runs from 1977 to 1982, when he had not completed his 29 years age. He played 27 Tests and 19 ODIs for West Indies where he picked up 125 wickets and 30 wickets respectively.
