Aaron Finch is one of the greatest batsmen in the present limited-overs cricket. He is currently the no.2-ranked T20I batsman and no.11-ranked ODI batsman. Apart from a good top-order batsman, Finch is also a very good captain in limited-overs cricket.
Recently, the Australian limited-overs captain was asked by a cricket fan who is the more difficult bowler to face between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
Aaron Finch has claimed that both have difficult challenges. He mentioned that Ashwin had a lot of variations with big spinning. Meanwhile, Finch also added that Jadeja always challenged the stumps and batsman’s defence.
Aaron Finch’s brief records against Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja
The 33-year-old off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and the 30-year-old left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja both are the top-class spinners in present Indian national cricket team.
In international cricket, Ashwin has dismissed Finch for four times (once in Tests, once in ODIs and twice in T20Is) while Jadeja has dismissed for twice (all in ODIs).
However, Jadeja is very economical than Ashwin against Finch in international cricket. While Finch has 76.32 batting strike-rate (in international cricket) against Jadeja, the right-handed batsman has 116.36 batting strike-rate (in international cricket) against Ashwin.
In other T20s (excluding T20Is), both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have dismissed Finch for once each, and this time, Finch has higher strike-rate against Jadeja (161.90) than Ashwin (123.33).
In T20I cricket history, Aaron Finch is holding the record of the highest individual score in an innings. On 3rd July 2018, the Aussie captain scored 172 runs against Zimbabwe in the Harare T20I. It is also the second-highest individual score in a T20 innings history.
Aaron Finch has played five Tests, 119 ODIs and 58 T20Is for Australia.
