ToggleLegendary cricketer AB de Villiers created history on Saturday (31st October) evening as he became the first South African batsman to score 9000 T20 runs. The right-handed batsman also became the eighth overall batsman to score 9000 T20 runs.
During the 52nd match of the IPL 2020, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were facing SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah), star RCB cricketer De Villiers reached that feat.
Before this match, De Villiers was just four runs away to complete his 9000 T20 runs as he already scored 8996 runs in 303 T20 innings (322 matches). During his 304th T20 innings, the right-handed batsman completed his 9000 T20 runs after completing his fourth run of that evening.
In that innings, De Villiers scored 24 runs off 24 balls with the help of only four and only six. After this latest innings, De Villiers has scored 9020 T20 runs.

AB de Villiers became the 5th fastest batsman to complete 9000 T20 runs
In the meantime, De Villiers became the fifth-fastest batsman to complete 9000 T20 runs. While De Villiers completed his 9000 T20 runs in 304 innings, only Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, David Warner and Aaron Finch have managed to reach this same feat faster than the South African.
