South African opener Aiden Markram has hugely struggled in the ongoing international tour in India. Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund sarcastically tweeted the Proteas opener after he had the horrific moment in the first two days of the ongoing Pune Test.
Aiden Markram is one of the talented batsmen in the present South African squad. The right-handed opening batsman is currently the 11th-ranked Test batsman. After playing 18 Tests (excluding ongoing Pune Test) since his debut in September 2017, Markram has scored 1,402 runs with an average of 42.48.
Before the ongoing Test series, Markram played for South Africa A in the two-match unofficial Test series against the hosts India A. In the Mysore game of that series, the opener scored 161 runs in their first innings.
Markram also featured in the three-day tour game ahead of the ongoing Test series. Once again, Markram’s bat dominated as he scored 100 runs before getting retired out.
Aiden Markram scored 5, 39 and 0 runs in this Test series
However, he is totally indifferent form in the ongoing Test series against the hosts India. In the first Test at Visakhapatnam, Markram scored five runs during South Africa’s first innings. He came to bat after the hard fielding time for almost two days where India managed 502/7 decl.
Later in the fourth innings of that game, opener Markram fought hard but lost his wicket on 39 runs.
The ongoing second Test at Pune has started almost a very similar fashion. The hosts’ batsmen dominated the first two days and set the first innings total of 601/5 decl. After the two hectic days, tired Markram came to bat in the late period of the evening session of day two. Markram had the worst experience in that moment as he lost his wicket at the second ball without opening his account. Indian pacer Umesh Yadav trapped him for the lbw.
I feel you: Abhinav Mukund to the South African opener
Abhinav Mukund also plays as an opening batsman. After Markram scored a duck, the 29-year-old Mukund came with a sarcastic post where he also claimed that he felt that situation.
Field for 600+runs over 2 days in hot conditions and comeback to get out second ball. Markram i feel you.? #openersdream
