Trouble for the Afghanistan Cricket Team

They were hammered by Eoin Morgan’s man, going down by a 150-run defeat. It is also their fifth loss in as many games, Afghanistan have failed to open their campaign in the global event. According to BBC, certain squad members confronted a few members of the public for filming them without consent.

However, Afghanistan’s skipper Gulbadin Naib told reporters that there isn’t any update on the particular report and played down the incident after the game.

“No, I haven’t, so you can ask my security officer. I didn’t know anything about him, about them,” he said. “It’s not a big issue for the team, for me.”

Statement by Manchester Police

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by Greater Manchester Police, officers attended Akbar’s restaurant around 11:15 pm on Monday. “Shortly after 11.15 pm on Monday 17 June 2019, police were called to reports of an altercation at premises on Liverpool Road in Manchester. Officers attended the scene. No one was injured and no arrests have been made. Inquiries are ongoing.” the statement stated.

England hand Afghanistan reality check

The Asian team is having a torrid time in the global event. Currently, at the bottom of the points table, Afghanistan received a harsh lesson by hosts England. Morgan hit 17 sixes as his side piled up 397/6 in 50 overs. They took on Afghan’s most vital card Rashid Khan as the spinner conceded more than 100 runs in his 10 overs. Fitness issues and controversy regarding leadership role hasn’t helped the side either.
