IPL 2020: Ajay Jadeja ‘Not Happy’ With MS Dhoni’s Batting Position At CSK
Sep 27, 2020 at 5:25 PM
Ajay Jadeja, the former Indian cricketer has criticised MS Dhoni for not leading the way as he is batting lower down the order. MS Dhoni was a force to reckon with in his prime days but with age and time, the former Indian captain has lost his mojo somehow. The Ranchi-born is currently plying his trade in IPL 2020 and both he and his team are struggling.
CSK have found it hard to chase the target in all the three matches they have played in the IPL 2020 till now. Although they won their opener against Mumbai Indians, they have lost their next 2 matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
MS Dhoni Bats Lower Down The Order As CSK Fails To Win Against RR And DC
Eyebrows were raised when MS Dhoni chose to bat lower down the order during run-chase versus MI but luckily they won the match courtesy a cameo by Sam Curran. who scored a brisk 18 off only six balls.MS Dhoni came after the fall of the 5th wicket but CSK were just 10 runs short of the target.
However, the next two matches caught him completely off-guard. He came to the crease after CSK were 114/5 in the 14th over and needed more than 100 runs to win against RR off six overs. The match was already lost. Against DC too, he came in the 16th over but then CSK required 77 more to win off six overs which was quite steep.
He came down to bat as low as in the seventh position against RR and struck 3 sixes but it was too late for CSK. Then against DC, he failed to finish the job again while batting at the 6th position this time.
Ajay Jadeja Not Happy With MS Dhoni’s Batting Position
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has joined the experts criticizing MS Dhoni for his failure to finish matches and also coming lower down the order on multiple occasions now.
He has said indirectly that no match is won without the skipper not leading the way. The other thing which is making Ajay Jadeja a sad person is that youngsters who have started watching him on screen for the first time will be remembering only this subdued version of MS Dhoni and would fail to realize his greatness of past.
“I would again say the same thing. I am not happy with MS Dhoni’s batting position. No war is won while fighting from behind. There’s a saying in the Army that a war concludes when the General steps out.”
“In cricket, I believe that the one who fights from the front has a better chance of winning the battle. If you have soldiers who can win the battle for you and you can only work towards strategizing the war, that’s a different scenario. But doesn’t look like the case here.”
“Dhoni has retired from Indian cricket team duty but is still leading CSK. Those kids who have started watching cricket now, would remember the Dhoni they are seeing on the screens, contrary to the great cricketer they were being told about before which is the sad part,” Ajay Jadeja told Cricbuzz.
CSK will next be facing SRH on Friday for their 3rd match as both teams will be looking for victory. While SRH is placed last after being defeated in both the matches, CSK are down with injuries to Dwayne Bravo and Ambati Rayudu and after both Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh opted out of IPL 2020.
