Sachin Tendulkar‘s 19-year-old son Arjun Tendulkar shined in his T20 Mumbai League debut. It was also the debutant match of his team Aakash Tigers who won that match by five wickets (with three balls remaining).

It was the opening match of the second edition of T20 Mumbai League where Aakash Tigers MWS faced the defending champions Triumph Knights Mumbai North East. In the first innings, Suryakumar Yadav-led Triumph Knights managed to score 147/6 (20 overs). They had a poor start as they were battling on 38/3 in 7 overs.

After the Aakash Tigers’ captain Dhawal Kulkarni dismissed the opener Shikhar Thakur for just seven runs, left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar dismissed another opener Karan Shah (14). Later, the next wicketkeeper-batsman Sumit Ghadigaonkar was run-out only on eight runs.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial innings of unbeaten 90 runs off 56 balls (strike-rate 160.71). The right-handed middle-order batsman hit four boundaries and seven over-boundaries in that innings. He fought till the end of that innings to secure a respectable first innings total. Apart from Yadav, no other batsmen to reach 15-run mark in that innings.

Anjdeep Lad was the best bowler in that innings who had the bowling figures of 2-0-12-2. Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar was the second best bowler in that innings with the bowling figures of 3-0-21-1.

Aakash Tigers chased that target in the final over

In reply, Aakash Tigers’ openers Kaustubh Pawar and Aakarshit Gomel provided an excellent start. They had a 67-run opening partnership that ultimately led the side to the victory. After Gomel lost his wicket on 41 runs (29 balls), Arjun Tendulkar joined the crease. The young left-handed batsman Tendulkar scored 23 runs off 19 balls before losing his wicket. Earlier, Pawar was also dismissed on 34 runs (30 balls). 

In the late moment, the wicketkeeper-batsman Doraiswamy Subramanian (14* off 11 balls) and Y Pawar (10* off 5 balls) played some excellent cameos to secure that victory. Aakash Tigers chased that target in 19.3 overs after losing five wickets (148/5).
