Sunrisers batsmen Eoin Morgan said that Ashish Nehra absence hurt them badly in the defeat against Delhi Daredevils yesterday.
Ashish Nehra was a key member of the squad who bowled with consistent line and length has been ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
“Obviously, it was a big blow missing Ashish. He was injured after the first game of Bangalore. So (Barinder) Sran came in then and did really well. It was a quite easy transition for him. Today he took wickets for us. so whole credit to him,” Morgan said at the post-match conference here.
“Yes, we had chances… I mean the tough lesson learned,” he said. On being asked about the lack of power hitting in the middle overs, Morgan said, ” Probably 160 was a par score. I think we did finish well. We have plenty of power hitters, if you look at the middle order Henriques, Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) and I right down.”
Sunrisers is currently top of the table with 16 points and has one match left with Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow night. Ashish Nehra injured his hamstring after the first against Bangalore. After his come back to the team, the bowling attack looked potent and restricted the opposition batting line up.
In yesterday’ match against Delhi Daredevils, Ashish Nehra experience was missed and in the upcoming matches, they need to strengthen their bowling attack. Rahaman has been the bowler of the tournament for Sunrisers.
