The youngster recently said he is looking forward to playing well in the Asia Cup 2018. Meanwhile, India will play Pakistan in the much-anticipated contest on September 19.
“The Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates is going to be huge, and I’m really looking forward to doing my best here,” Bumrah said.
The soft-spoken cricketer also said that being at the top of the ICC rankings is a matter of great pride.
He is also aware of facing some tough opponents in the upcoming tournament but said he is up for the challenge. It is the only multi-nation tournament ahead of next year’s World Cup and the sides will look to gain exposure.
Bumrah looks to maintain number one spot
Bumrah currently has a lead of 20-points over Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, and he hopes to stay at the top. Rashid will look to gain early momentum for his side, and look for a way to progress to the next level. Afghanistan recently did well against Ireland, and that should hold them in a good state.
Another pacer, who will look to get his performance right is Pakistan’s, Hasan Ali. The flamboyant cricketer has been in the news for all the wrongdoings of late, but he will be licking his fingers to put up an excellent performance.
The Asia Cup 2018 kick starts on September 15, with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh in the first game. Each of the six nations will look to leave a mark in the global tournament and dominate the Asian circuit.
