The spin wizard Shane Warne has slammed umpires for poor decisions in the ongoing first Test i.e, maiden day-night Test between India and Australia at Adelaide Oval. He has especially pointed out Bruce Oxenford’s dubious umpiring decisions on day two.

On day one, Oxenford gave India a short run but after reply, it was seen Virat Kohli‘s bat was clearly touching the crease. However, according to rules, the batsman can not appeal or ask for a replay for overturning the on-field umpire’s decision on short-turn.

But the decision which fumed former Australian cricketer Shane Warne was when Bruce Oxenford gave Nathan Lyon out in the 63rd over of Australia’s first innings on day two. Indian team loudly appealed for LBW and the Queensland-born umpire straightaway gave him out. Lyon quickly reviewed the decision and DRS showed a significant edge of the bat.

Shane Warne lashed out at Bruce, stating that an umpire can not repeatedly give wrong decisions because it can cost a team.

“People have said to me outside the back of this ground that you might be a tough on Bruce Oxenford, but you can’t keep getting these decisions wrong,” Warne said on Fox Cricket.

“He just continually makes errors like this. We saw yesterday he gave a short run to India, which just wasn’t a short run. Everyone can make a mistake, but he has made three or four. This is a huge mistake. Look how much that deviates. You could hear the two noises straight away,” he added.

While doing the commentary, Shane Warne also pointed out Joe Burn’s LBW decision which was also given by Bruce. The ball was just clipping the outside of the leg stick but because of the umpire’s call, he had to leave the field.

“To me when you watch that live it was always going down the legside a little bit, but because of umpire’s call it is still in play, and that was maybe just hitting or maybe just missing. But because he gave him out, it’s going down the legs, and maybe it is clipping and it is given.

“He can cost Joe Burns his grieve, all these mistakes. No one likes to make mistakes and you don’t want to pick on an umpire. But he has made too many in my opinion in this game,” Shane Warne said while doing commentary for Sony.

Meanwhile, India ended up the day two at Adelaide Oval with 62 runs lead. Mayank Agarwal and Jasprit Bumrah will continue batting on day three.
