Australia tour of Bangladesh in June 2020 has been postponed indefinitely amid the novel COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak. In this tour, they had the schedule to play a two-match Test series.

According to the FTP schedule, Bangladesh had to host a two-match Test series against Australia between 11th and 23rd June 2020. While Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (Chittagong) had the plan to host the opening game of this Test series (11-15 June 2020), the second and final Test was scheduled at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (Dhaka).

However, the sports events have been affected due to novel COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak. Like many other countries, both Australia and Bangladesh are also fighting against this virus. Though Bangladesh has lesser number of coronavirus cases than many other affected countries, the crisis is increasing rapidly in this country in the ongoing month. Also, Australia is fighting to handle the pandemic situation.

Observing the present situation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) have agreed to postpone this Test series for an indefinite period.

This Test series was originally planned in February 2020. However, due to the fixture congestion, the timeline of this series has been shifted to June 2020. But while many cricket events have already been affected in the coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming Australia tour of Bangladesh has also entered to this postponement list.

Earlier, Australia also postponed the T20I series in Bangladesh

Earlier, Australia also had a plan to tour Bangladesh in October 2019 for the three-match T20I series. But that series was also postponed due to the fixture congestion. This T20I series will be now played in the 2020/21 season, just ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in India.
