Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has dropped six cricketers from the national contracts after a string of poor performances in the last year.
Key players like Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes also missed out on the contract.
Meanwhile, the board denied a pay rise of the players who got the contracts. BCB decided to retain just 10 players on contract last night on April 1.
Moreover, they will add three more players to the contracts at a later date.

Chief of the selection panel, Habibul Bashar revealed that they preferred players who can perform over the next one year. However, he admitted that this is not the end for them as everyone will get a fair chance.
“For contracts, we mostly preferred players who would perform regularly over the next one year,” Bashar told AFP.
“Some players have lost their regular spot in the team. They needed to be sent a message. Getting dropped does not mean the door is closed for them. Everyone will get a fair chance in future,” he added.
Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi were the four others who lost contracts. Moreover, Sabbir lost his contract earlier on disciplinary grounds.
Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Nazmul Hassan told reporters that the contracted players will not get any pay hike.
The top remunerated players — Shakib, Mushfiqur, and Mortaza — are paid 420,000 takas ($5,121) per month from the board.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh lost Test series against New Zealand, India, and South Africa in 2017, and just managed to scrape a draw against Sri Lanka and Australia last year.
However, they made it to the semifinals of the Champions Trophy last year in the UK. Moreover, they lost 10 out of 14 ODI games along with six T20I out of seven.
With this step, Bangladesh Cricket Board has given a clear message to its players who have had been struggling in the national fold.
