Bangladesh Cricketers Call Off Strike After BCB Accepts Their Demand

The upcoming Bangladesh tour of India 2019/20 has got a huge life as the Bangladesh cricketers have called off the strike and they are ready to begin the cricket action. Bangladesh cricketers are happy and feeling satisfied after their talk with the board.

On last Monday (21st October), the senior Bangladesh cricketers led the entire men’s Bangladesh cricket community to go on strike from all the national and international cricket actions. They brought out the 11-point demand that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) must have to accept.

The demands were basically on the fair improvement of facilities for the Bangladesh cricketers and support staff, in financially and other basic needs.

However, the women cricketers and junior cricketers were not in the part of this boycott.

Later, the BCB President Nazmul Hassan wished to talk with Bangladesh cricketers to resolve this matter as soon as possible.

In that serious crisis moment, the BCB President and director (Naimur Rahman) reportedly communicated with the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who was first unaware about that boycott, also reportedly got a call from the PM.

Finally, on Wednesday (23rd October) night, Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh cricketers met with BCB officials.

Bangladesh cricketers are happy on the present situation

The Bangladesh players are happy after the BCB officials have agreed to fulfil their initial 11-point demand. Before that meeting, Bangladesh cricketers also added two more demands as they wanted a percentage of revenue sharing from BCB along with the equal pay for women cricketers.

After the conclusion of that meeting, satisfied Bangladesh players immediately called off the strike. They are ready to start playing the National Cricket League (NCL) and the national players are ready to join the national camp.

Shakib Al Hasan told after that meeting, “Today we are happy. We can say how satisfied we are when these assurances will be implemented. Till now, I am happy. The board promised to resolve all the matters one by one very soon. I hope they will do it in quickest possible time. We raised those two demands just now and the board needs time to discuss about it. I am okay with it for the time being. We are joining the national camp from October 25.

“After the NCL, we’ll discuss about the CWAB. Namur Rahman ensured us that only the current players will be involved with CWAB.”

Bangladesh will play the international series against the hosts India in this November. They will play the three-match T20I series and two-match Test series between 3rd November and 3rd December 2019. As the strike has been called off, there is no more obstruction at present for the upcoming Bangladesh tour of India.
