Bangladesh Drop Mehedi Hasan Miraz For First T20I vs New Zealand
After suffering a 3-0 whitewash in ODIs against New Zealand, Bangladesh have made two changes to their T20 squad as the selectors have dropped the young sensation Media Hasan Miraz and Tanvir Hayder and have included Shuvagota Hom and Tatum Islam. It should be noted that Mehedi didn’t play a single ODI and still has been left out. On the other hand, Hayder made his debut in the second ODI and also played the last game. He went wicket-less in both matches and to add to it, he was also reprimanded on his debut match for obscene language.
The team will continue to miss out on the services of Mushfiqur Rahim, who suffered a hamstring injury during the first ODI.
It has been a tough tour for Bangladesh so far as they are yet to win a match and the current form of New Zealand suggests the hosts are in no mood to take them lightly.
New Zealand have rested their fast bowler Tim Southee for the T20I series whereas injured Martin Guptill has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Neil Broom, who scored 109* and 97 in second and third ODI respectively, has been named as Guptill’s replacement.
Bangladesh’s Squad for first T20I against New Zealand: Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan (vice-capt), Mosaddek Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shuvagata Hom, Subashis Roy, Taijul Islam, Nurul Hasan (wk)
