Mustafizur Rahman, 50 T20I wickets

Bangladesh have been hit by twin injury blows on the eve of the third T20I against India. All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain is suffering from a groin niggle while as per a report in bdcrictime.com, Mustafizur Rahmen is dealing with an ankle issue. Hossain, as per the report, did not take part in practice session as well. There is every chance that he might miss the decider, which will force Bangladesh to name a replacement.

Hossain was expected to Bangladesh’ mainstay but he hasn’t got enough chances to prove his credentials.

Mustafizur, on the other hand, hasn’t had the best of the series. He went wicketless in the first two matches and also didn’t get to bowl his full four overs in the Delhi T20I – he bowled only two overs in the series-opener.

Fit or not, Bangladesh are unlikely to play Mustafizur in the third T20I. Given the nature of the pitch, they will be induced to play an extra spinner.

Taijul Islam is expected to walk into playing XI in place of Mustafizur. The left-arm spinner has played two T20Is so far in which he scalped one wicket. On his debut against Zimbabwe, Taijul became first Bangladesh’s player to take a wicket off the first ball of his T20I career.

Hosts India are also expected to make a change in the playing XI. Given Nagpur’s pitch, Rohit Sharma might bring in Rahul Chahar in place of Shivam Dube. Chahar has played one T20I so far and is expected to partner Yuzvendra Chahal.

Despite below-par performance in the first two T20Is, Krunal Pandya is expected to be retained for his all-round credentials. Also, India would want an extra spinner on this slow track.
