Brendon Kuruppu (Sri Lanka) – 201* vs New Zealand at Colombo (SSC) in April 1987

Former Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman Brendon Kuruppu became the third batsman to hit a double-century in Test debut. It was the 1987 Colombo Test against New Zealand where Kuruppu made his Test debut. During the first innings of that Test match, Kuruppu scored 201 not out off 548 balls (24 fours). While Sri Lanka declared their first innings on 397/9, New Zealand replied with 406/5 before the match ended in a draw.
Till 1991, Kuruppu played four Tests, but he also played 54 ODIs for the Sri Lankan team.
