Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene was one of the greatest right-handed batsmen. During his international career, Jayawardene successfully played the responsible part in his team’s batting and he had similar strong leadership abilities in every format.

Jayawardene, who served for Sri Lanka and Asia XI in his international career between 1997 and 2015, played 652 international matches – the second-most capped player in international cricket history. The right-handed batsman scored 25957 runs in 725 innings (average 39.15) and the former cricketer is currently the fourth-most run-scorer in international cricket history. During his international career, Jayawardene faced 40100 balls. The right-handed batsman hit 54 centuries and 136 half-centuries during his long international career.
