The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is undoubtedly holding the top position in this list. Serving the Indian team for 24 years (1989-2013), Tendulkar not only became the only cricketer to play 200 Tests but also finished as the most run-scorer in the Test cricket history. The right-handed batsman scored 15921 runs (average 53.78), including the record number of Test centuries 51.

During his Test career, Tendulkar officially reached the top position on the Test batting rankings for multiple times. He achieved it for the first time in late 1994. Then, he reclaimed that position in 1998, 1999, continuing between 2000 and 2001, 2002, 2010 and 2011. His highest Test rating was 898 (24th February 2002), which is not among the top 20 rating points in the Test batting rankings history.
