In the recent past, there has been a lot of buzz about India’s Men’s selection committee. After the MSK Prasad-led side tenure ended last year, the panel is still looking for new selectors. Though Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited application for the post. Now, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also given surety that the new selection panel will be formed ahead of the South Africa ODI series.

Former cricketer Ganguly while addressing media reporters in Mumbai opined that the new committee will select India’s squad for the South Africa series at home.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue are busy playing the T20I series against New Zealand. After this, both the teams will play the three-match ODI series and Test series.

“The Test squad for New Zealand has already been picked by the old committee and the new committee’s first meeting will be held before home ODI series against South Africa. The interviews for short-listed candidates will happen soon,” he maintained.

Gautam Gambhir will not lead CAC:

According to rule, the selectors are appointed by the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). But CAC is nonfunctional since the last November. Thus, there is no clarity over who will interview the applicants.

However, Ganguly revealed that Madan Lal and Sulakshana Naik will be a part of the CAC, to choose the new selection panel.

Also, he made it clear that cricketer-turned-politician-Gambhir won’t be a part of the CAC as he is not considered fit to hold any position.
