Earlier, it was reported that Nehra had received his money from the Board, but now it has come to notice that he received only half of the amount. Zaheer Khan will be paid an amount of 75 Lakhs while Yuvraj Singh will be paid a huge amount of 2.5 Crore.

Yuvraj was injured during 2016 T20 World Cup, and then he went on to miss seven games for Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2016. A few weeks back, it came to notice that Yuvraj had approached the board, asking for his compensation money but there was no response.

Finally, on 24 October, the board decided to clear the dues of the players. It is to be noted that KL Rahul and Murali Vijay missed the full season of IPL 11 due to injury. Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav too missed a part of IPL 11. They will also get their amount in time to come.

As per the rules of BCCI, a player gets a compensation amount for the money which he loses by missing IPL games because he should have suffered the injury while on national duty.

Earlier, the players used to play in IPL enduring an injury so as they do not lose out on big bucks. It became an issue for the Board, and finally, they came up with this proposal to prevent their players from playing in IPL with an injury.

Mohammad Shami was probably the first player to receive IPL compensation as he missed IPL 2015 due to an injury. He played for India with a knee injury during 2015 World Cup and was praised for his commitments to the country. He was paid an amount of Rs 2.2 Crore in the year 2016 for missing IPL 2015.

The step taken by the board prevents a player from a possible burnout as well. In fact, now the team management is looking forward to managing the workload of players in international cricket as well. They are looking forward to making separate bowling departments in Test and limited overs format. There can be a case when skipper Virat Kohli might also be rested for limited overs leg against Sri Lanka.
