England cricketer Jos Buttler feels Ben Stokes is mentally very strong and will easily overcome the difficult times ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Ben will be absolutely fine and more than ready for the IPL,” Buttler said to TOI.
Meanwhile, Stokes along with Buttler will share their trade with Jaipur-based outfit Rajasthan Royals in this IPL. Further, Stokes became the highest paid cricketer in this year’s auction.
“He is already back for England in New Zealand and is quite comfortable. He is a huge part of England. It’s great to have him back in the English side as he is one of the best players in the world,” he added.
The wicket-keeper batsman also feels that Stokes can go on to repeat his IPL show of last year.
“I am expecting some big things from him this time,” he added.
Archer ideal for IPL:
Buttler is also looking forward to playing with young Jofra Archer. Archer recently grabbed headlines during his stint in the seventh edition of Big Bash League (BBL).
“He is a player for the future,” Buttler said.
“Big things are expected from him. His game is ideal for IPL. He bowls fast, is an amazing athlete and can hit bowlers out of the ground. It will be exciting to watch him play in India,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler will play a crucial role for the Royals given his current form. The impending edition will kick off in Mumbai on April 7.
“My exact role will be decided by the team management, but in recent times I have been opening the batting and have quite enjoyed it. I am also used to batting in the middle order and have been playing the role of a finisher. I am quite comfortable with it. So, I am available for whatever role I am given,” Buttler concluded.
