Bengal Announces Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Squad, Wriddhiman Saha Returns To Action
On Sunday (17 February), the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced the 15-member Bengal squad for the upcoming domestic T20 tournament, 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While Manoj Tiwary will lead the side, Wriddhiman Saha has finally returned to cricket after around nine months injury layoff.
As usual, Manoj Tiwary will lead the Bengal side in the upcoming domestic T20 tournament. The 23-year-old Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has played only T20 game in January 2017, will play the vice-captain role for Bengal.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami is also in the 15-member squad. In the last season, he was the fourth leading run-scorer in overall and leading run-scorer for Bengal. Playing eight innings, the left-handed batsman scored 373 runs with an average of 53.28.
Ashoke Dinda will once again lead the Bengal pace bowling attack. Interestingly, Manoj Tiwary was the most wicket-taker for Bengal in the 2017/18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In eight matches, he took 13 wickets with an impressive average of 15.76.
Wriddhiman Saha is ready to play for the first time since IPL 2018
However, the big news is that the wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has returned to the side. Since last May, the wicketkeeper-batsman hasn’t played any professional cricket match.
From early 2018, Wriddhiman Saha was battling from various injuries. Later, in the final moment of the IPL 2018, the Indian Test specialist wicketkeeper suffered from the finger injury. Since then, he missed the entire cricket action. Now he is ready to feature in the upcoming T20 tournament.
