It was the crucial last game in the league stage of the Singer-Akai Cup 2007 (ODI tri-series). After Pakistan decided to bat first, they only managed to score 151/9 in 50 overs. Only wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan (61) and Saqlain Mushtaq (20) managed to reach the 20-run mark in that innings. Meanwhile, Heath Streak (4/18) bagged four wickets in that innings.
In reply, Zimbabwe were bundled out for just 119 runs (40.1 overs) as Pakistan won that match by 32 runs. While four Zimbabwean batsmen reached the 20-run mark, none of them was able to reach the 30-run mark. Mushtaq Ahmed (4/27), Waqar Younis (3/14) and Saqlain Mushtaq (2/37) were the wicket-takers for Pakistan while the wicketless Wasim Akram also played an important role by restricting the opponent scoreboard. Akram finished the game with the bowling figures of 7-1-11-0 (economy rate 1.57).
