India’s bowling line-up in the T20I series against West Indies was praiseworthy. Bowling coach Bharat Arun talks about the Indian team ahead of the ODI series against the visitors West Indies. He speaks about the new talent in the team.
Bharat Arun praises Shivam Dube‘s game as an allrounder who played a big knock in Thiruvanthapuram. He believes that Shivam is gaining confidence after playing every game.
In the Bangladesh T20I series, he picked three wickets in last game which was series decider but hadn’t much contribution with the bat. He scored his first maiden half-century in the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies but went wicketless in all the three matches.
Bharat Arun appreciated Virat Kohli‘s faith to give Shivam Dube chances to bowl despite the batsmen were hitting hard in his overs. Arun is confident that Dube will become a better all-rounder with the experience he gains.
“He (Dube) is an exciting prospect and I think he is gaining in confidence from every game. Even you if look at the way he came back the way after he bowled the first over (in Mumbai) against West Indies, I think that was creditable. For Virat (Kohi), to show faith in him after the first over and also for him to bowl a good spell after that…”
“And I think he is an exciting talent for us. As he gains in confidence, he will become a good all-rounder,” Arun told reporters ahead of the first ODI against West Indies on Sunday.
Bharat Arun on Deepak Chahar
The pacer Deepak Chahar is also a new member in India’s dressing room. He impressed everyone with his bowling attack against Bangladesh team. In the T20I series against West Indies, he was the highest wicket-taker for India but the opposition also gathered the huge number of runs from his overs.
He admits that Chahar is a skilful bowler who will be a profitable asset. Bharat Arun believes that Deepak Chahar is a crucial part of the team.
“Deepak has been exceptional even in the IPL. He is someone who can move the ball both ways. He is also a very skilful bowler, bowling slow bouncers, yorkers, I think with so much skill on hand… let me put it this way, he has got everything in him to do well at the international level,” he added.
Bharat Arun further added that India has now a variety of fast bowlers which are rich in qualities. Ahead of the ODI series against West Indies, he said that Indian bowlers have the ability to halt the dangerous Windies batsmen.
“…The number of bowlers does well, I think it augurs well for us. So it gives you a varied pool of bowlers to choose from. Also, we would be seeing the conditions, New Zealand would be different, Australia would be different. So it will be horses for courses..,” he added.
