It’s Saturday and it is going to be a doubleheader in the BBL 2018-19. Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes will lock horns in the fifth match of the ongoing Big Bash League 2018-19. The Heat had lost the first of the season against the defending champions Adelaide Strikers. On the other hand, previous year runners-up Hobart Hurricanes will play their first match of the eighth edition.

Meanwhile, Brisbane Heat will like to come up with a solid batting performance. They had managed only 146 runs in the first match of the tournament in which their last wicket partnership had added a valuable stand of 45 runs. Thus, the onus is once again going to be on Brendon McCullum and skipper Chris Lynn.

On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes will like to get off to a good start. Hurricanes had a good season in the previous edition as they had gone all the way till the finals. However, they had failed to cross the final hurdle against Adelaide Strikers. Hurricanes had won five matches whereas they lost as many in the previous edition.

Furthermore, D’Arcy Short had top-scored for the Hurricanes as the southpaw opener had amassed 572 runs in 11 matches at a fine average of 57.20 in the last season. Consequently, Short will like to come up with a similar kind of performance in the ongoing tourney.

George Bailey was the skipper of the Hobart Hurricanes in the previous season. However, the in-form Matthew Wade is going to hold the captaincy reins for the Hurricanes whereas Alex Doolan is going to take the wicketkeeping role. Jofra Archer had shined in the previous season as the seamer had bowled with sheer pace. Consequently, the lanky fast bowler will like to deliver the goods for his franchise.

Brisbane Heat middle order will need to show application and must buy some time at the crease. In the first match against Adelaide Strikers, Heat batters were in a hurry to get quick runs without getting settled. Hence, it is crucial for the batsmen to set a competitive total on the board.

Date and Time: 22 December 2018, 1:30 PM IST.

Venue: Carrara Oval, Queensland.

Pitch Conditions: The Queensland pitch is going to provide a good bounce to the fast bowlers. Consequently, the batsmen will also enjoy the true bounce in the pitch.
