The 10th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) will begin on Thursday (10th December) evening, when the hosts Hobart Hurricanes (HUR) will face the defending champions Sydney Sixes (SIX) at Bellerive Oval (Hobart).

Both teams are desperate to begin their new season with a victory. While the two-time BBL winners Sydney Sixers won the BBL 09 trophy after beating Melbourne Stars by 19 runs in the final, two-time BBL runners-up Hobart Hurricanes were eliminated in the BBL 09 from the Eliminator, where Sydney Thunder beat them by 57 runs.
