Remember Krishmar Santokie? The little-known left-arm pacer who represented West Indies in 2014 T20 World Cup. After more than five years, the 34-year-old hogged the limelight for all wrong reasons on the opening day of the Bangladesh Premier League 2019/20.

Playing for Sylhet Thunder in the opening match of the season, Santokie delivered two worst deliveries in the history of the game. He bowled an outrageous wide ball and followed up with a massive no-ball in the same over.

Bowling the second over of the match, Santokie gave just one run on the first two balls before bowling the outrageous wide ball that pitched way outside the leg stump. It would have been a definite four byes but wicketkeeper Mohammad Mithun saved the extra runs by diving to full length.

Two balls later, Santokie delivered a huge no-ball as his foot landed a metre ahead of the popping crease. He finished his jump after crossing the stumps and his right leg landed way outside the crease. Fernando couldn’t capitalise on the free hit that followed but hit the final delivery of the over for a six.

Santokie, after giving nine runs in his first over, finished with a spell of 4-0-34-1. Thunder failed to defend a total of 162 as Chattogram Challengers chased it down with five wickets and six balls left. Imrul Kayes, 61 of 38, starred in the chase but Chadwick Walton (49* off 30) also played a crucial role.
In the second match of the opening day, Cumilla Warriors registered a105-run victory over Rangpur Rangers. Courtesy Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 75 off 31, Warrior put up a total of 173/7. The Mohammad Nabi-led Rangers were bowled out on 68 in 14 overs, with none of the batsmen managing to touch 20-run mark.
Al-Amin Hossain was the top wicket-taker for his team with a three-for. Soumya Sarkar and Sunzamul Islam and scalped two wickets each.
