BPL Franchise Chattogram Challengers Demand Action If Chris Gayle Remains Absence In Upcoming Season
While the Caribbean star Chris Gayle has recently announced his break from cricket, he can face big trouble. The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Chattogram Challengers feel that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) should take action against Gayle if he denies playing in the upcoming BPL season.
After finishing his stint in the middle of ongoing Mzansi Super League (MSL 2019), Chris Gayle has announced his break from cricket to decide his future.
During that revelation, Chris Gayle also claimed that the Caribbean board asked him to feature in the upcoming ODI series against the hosts India. But, the 40-year-old has denied returning in international cricket soon. Gayle played his last international game against India during Port of Spain ODI on 14th August 2019.
The Caribbean opener also added that he wouldn’t be available for the upcoming Big Bash League season. He further added that he even had no idea how his name was added in the BPL draft where Chattogram Challengers successfully added him in their squad.
His agent confirmed Chris Gayle was aware about it – Chattogram Challengers
Recently, Chattogram Challengers have reacted on this issue. The team director Jalal Yunus has clarified that they have added Gayle in the squad after his agent confirmed his availability for the tournament. He further added that the BCB should take action in this matter.
Yunus said, “His agent confirmed Chris was aware about it. Now if he does not come, we will seek a player outside the draft. But I feel BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) should take action in such cases to keep discipline.”
The BPL 2019/20 is set to begin on 11th December 2019 and it will run till the end of 17th January 2020.
