The top two Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the top rivals in the T20 cricket history.
Both these teams are very successful sides in the T20 cricket history as MI have won four IPL trophies (2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019) and two Champions League T20 trophies (2011 and 2013), while CSK has celebrated three IPL trophies (2010, 2011 and 2018) and two Champions League T20 trophies (2010 and 2014).

Though MI have won more trophies, CSK are the very consistent team in the IPL history as they have never finished below the top four positions in this cash-rich tournament history yet (till 2019).
While Mumbai Indians have finished on the top four positions in eight IPL editions, including four trophy-winning and once runners-up (2010), Chennai Super Kings have finished on the top four positions in all their 10 IPL editions (missed two IPL editions due to suspensions – 2016 and 2017), including three trophy-winning and five runners-up.

So, cricket fans enjoy when MI and CSK face each other on the ground.
Their first meeting was during the league stage of the IPL 2008 as they faced each other at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai) on 23rd April 2008. The hosts CSK won that game by just 6 runs while Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden won the Player of the Match for scoring crucial 81 runs off 46 balls for CSK.
Their latest meeting was during the IPL 2019 final, which they played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (Hyderabad) on 12th May 2019. It was a thrilling game where MI won by just one run and became the first team to win four IPL trophies. Winning-side pacer Jasprit Bumrah won Player of the Match award for his match-winning bowling figures of 4-0-14-2.
Though their meetings are generally competitive and thrilling, Mumbai Indians have dominated Chennai Super Kings in the results, especially in the recent period. In the latest condition, MI are enjoying five winning streaks against CSK.
