On Friday (30th October) evening, “The Universe Boss” Chris Gayle became the first batsman to hit 1000 sixes in T20 cricket career. At the end of that innings, Gayle has smashed 1001 T20 sixes.
During the 50th match of the IPL 2020, where Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were playing against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi), star KXIP cricketer Chris Gayle achieved this incredible feat.
Ahead of this match, the left-handed Jamaican batsman already smashed 993 sixes in 401 T20 innings (409 matches). While he was seven sixes away from the 1000 T20 sixes, Gayle hit 8 sixes during the 50th match of the IPL 2020 against Rajasthan Royals. Unlucky Gayle just missed out his 23rd T20 century as he was dismissed in the final over of the first innings after scoring 99 runs off 63 balls (6 fours and 8 sixes). After that innings, Gayle has hit 1001 T20 sixes in 402 innings (410 matches).
The second most six-hitter in T20 cricket history is way behind from Gayle. Trinidadian all-rounder Kieron Pollard is in the next place of Gayle in the list of most T20 sixes with 690 sixes in 466 T20 innings (524 T20 matches).
In the list of top 10 most T20 sixes, Rohit Sharma is the only Indian who has hit 376 T20 sixes in 324 innings (337 matches). At present, Rohit is the 8th most six-hitter in T20 cricket history.

Chris Gayle has not only managed to hit 1000 T20 sixes, but he is also the only batsman to hit 1000 T20 fours. After this latest match, Gayle has managed to hit 1041 T20 fours in 402 innings. In the list of most T20 fours, Australian cricketer David Warner is in the second position with 945 T20 fours in 293 innings (294 matches).
