In between, the Black Caps and Bangladesh were scheduled to face-off in the third and final Test on March 16. However, following the tragedy the dead rubber has been called off with a country on a high-alert.
Williamson, who is yet to come to the terms following bloodshed in the heart of Christchurch city, has extended love to the victims and their families.
The cricketing fraternity has already extended support to New Zealand in the times of distress.
“Like the rest of New Zealand, I am struggling to understand what has happened today. The need for love in our country has never been higher and I send all of mine to the victims, their family and friends, the Muslim community and every other heartbroken New Zealander. Let’s come together,” Williamson’s Insta post read.
The Parliament of New Zealand has the flag at his half-mast. The country is morning the killings of over 49 people.
While making a point, Williamson stated he has never felt there is any need for love. He expressed sympathy to the families of victims who were killed inside the mosque at two different sites.
While understanding the severity, Williamson has further called upon his friends on asking everyone to stay united.
The entire episode unfolded when the 28-year-old Australia-based citizen Brenton Tarrant, fired upon worshippers who were gathering for congregational prayers in a mosque.
