Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq recently lauded the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for his countless contributions to the cricket.
Among the cricket fans, everyone is familiar with the name of Sachin Tendulkar. He dominated the world cricket with his bat during his long international career between 1989 and 2013. While he played most international matches, he is also holding the record of most international runs (including most Test and ODI runs) and numerous other batting records. The right-handed batsman is also the only cricketer to hit 100 international centuries.
Sachin Tendulkar was the first man to hit the double-century in ODI history. During the Gwalior ODI against South Africa on 24th February 2010, Sachin scored 200 not out off 147 balls. On the ten years celebration of that historic knock, Inzamam-ul-Haq showered the legendary Indian cricketer with full of praise.
Inzamam told on his YouTube channel, “He was born for cricket. I always believed cricket and he were made for each other. I’m talking about the ever great Sachin Tendulkar.
“It still amazes that at a tender age of 16-17, he made his international debut and did such great things. This is only possible by some extraordinary cricketer, in fact, if there is anything above extraordinary then that is Sachin.”
Inzamam-ul-Haq believes that Sachin Tendulkar did those things in cricket, which is only easier to say. The former Pakistan captain also pointed out that Sachin achieved those feats after facing the best bowlers in international cricket history.
Inzamam added, “It’s easier said than done. He was playing against the likes of Waqar and Wasim on his debut at 16 years of age. The kind of cricket he played against that bowling attack was startling.”
The second biggest quality I believe was his records: Inzamam-ul-Haq
Talking about the second biggest quality of Sachin Tendulkar, Inzamam-ul-Haq pointed out that Sachin’s records were hardly thinkable for the other batsmen in that era.
He said, “The second biggest quality I believe was his records. During that era, the concept of scoring this many runs wasn’t even there. The great players used to be finished with 8-8.5 thousand runs. Only Sunil Gavaskar had scored 10 thousand runs and it seemed that record will never be broken. But Sachin broke all records of scoring runs. Now I’m waiting to see who will break Sachin’s mountain of runs.”
Inzamam also claimed that Sachin Tendulkar was mentally tough enough. The legendary Pakistan cricketer admitted that Sachin had the most fan following among the cricketers.
Inzamam quoted, “He was mentally so so tough. I’m saying this because when Sachin used to come out to bat, he was always under pressure. I have never seen more fan following of a cricketer than Sachin’s. He had fans all around the world. There was pressure on him to score in every innings.”
Sachin was such a genius cricketer
Inzamam-ul-Haq also praised Sachin Tendulkar’s bowling skills. He admitted that Sachin was the toughest leg-spinner for him.
The former Pakistan captain claimed, “He was such a genius cricketer that he could bowl leg-spin, off-spin, medium pace. I had faced many great leg-spinners, never had troubles in reading their googlies but it was only Tendulkar who gave me troubles and got me out many times.”
Inzamam also feels that Sachin should have never retired from cricket. The Indian cricketer retired from the international cricket in November 2013.
He said, “If it was up to then Sachin should have continued playing. He used to be so enjoyable to watch. He should have never gone away from cricket.”
Soon, the cricket fans will see Sachin Tendulkar with the bat in the forthcoming Road Safety World Series 2020.
