Ravi Shastri (India)

Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri is famous for his multiple roles. Apart from being a successful cricketer, he was a successful commentator, and he is now the successful Head Coach of the Indian national cricket team. Shastri, who was a member of the famous Indian team that win the 1983 Cricket World Cup, started his international career as a left-arm spinner. However, gradually he improved his batting skills and became one of the useful all-rounder in his country.
On his debutant Test match (against New Zealand at Wellington in February 1981), Shastri bagged a total of six wickets. In that same tour, Shastri claimed his first five-wicket haul in Test career. But slowly he started to show his improved batting performances. Gradually, Shastri achieved consistency in his batting and evolved as an effective all-rounders in international cricket.
During his international career, Shastri played 230 international matches (80 Tests and 150 ODIs) where the right-handed batsman scored 6938 runs and the left-arm spinner took 280 wickets. Shastri also played the captaincy role of the Indian team in 12 international matches (only Test and 11 ODIs).
