When a player consistently plays the role of a Test captain for a long time, it mostly shows how much strong a team, how much strong a captain, how much strong faith the team management has on the captain etc.

While the Test captaincy is very much hectic job, some captains maintain this role for a long time in a non-stop way.

Here we are talking about the top five cricketers with most consecutive matches as a Test captain

Former English opening batsman Mike Atherton led the England team in 54 Tests between 1993 and 2001. At that time, he was England’s most-capped captain in Test cricket history, and he was the only English captain to lead the Test side for at least 50 matches. During his Test captaincy tenure, England won 13 matches but lost 21 games and drew the other 20 matches. As a Test captain, his success rate was 24.07%, while his loss rate was 38.88% (highest among the Test captains who played at least 50 Tests as a captain).

Atherton was the only second Test captain to lead a team in 50 consecutive Tests. From August 1993 to March 1998, he led the English team in 52 consecutive Test matches.
