Former great New Zealand cricketer Stephen Fleming handled the leadership responsibility of his national side for a long time. He led the Black Caps in 80 Tests between 1997 and 2006, where his team won 28 games, lost 27 matches and drew 25 times. While he is still the most successful New Zealand captain, his success rate as a Test captain was 35.

He led the New Zealand team in 65 consecutive Test matches between July 1999 and December 2006. At that time, it was the second-best record of the most consecutive matches as a Test captain.
