Former Australian World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting was one of the greatest right-handed batsmen in his generation. He was a star performer for his national team who achieved great success in most of the places in the cricket world.

Ponting was a very quick run-scorer as he liked to hit boundaries to ease his pressure. He experienced the T20 cricket in late of his cricket career. In T20 career, the right-handed batsman scored 909 runs in 48 matches (average 22.98; strike-rate 110.98), including five half-centuries with his best score of 98 not out.

However, Ponting wasn’t successful in the IPL tournament, where he experienced only two editions as a player. After serving for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2008, Ponting played his second and last IPL season for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2013. While he scored just 39 runs in four games (average 9.75) during the IPL 2008, he only scored 52 runs in six matches (average 10.40) during the IPL 2013.
