Former South African cricketer Wayne Parnell, who is now serving for Worcestershire after signing a Kolpak deal in late 2018, is also in this list. While Parnell was born in a Christian family, he converted to Muslim in 2011. Parnell also clarified that his friends Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir or any others had put no influence during converting his religion.

After converting to Islam, though Parnell was considering to be named as Waleed (meaning “Newborn Son”), he is still using his birth name – Wayne Dillon Parnell.

Parnell played international cricket from 2009 to 2017. While he played six Tests, 65 ODIs and 40 T20Is, the left-arm pacer picked up 15, 94 and 41 wickets respectively. He finished as the leading wicket-taker in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 (11 wickets). He is also a useful left-handed lower-order batsman.
