On Tuesday (19 February), the IPL governing council announced the fixtures of first two weeks of the IPL 2019. Soon after that announcement, the two IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have involved in a social media banter.
The IPL 2019 will begin on 23 March with the game between CSK and RCB at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai). It is a famous South Indian derby in IPL history as both teams are known as the top favourite IPL sides.
Soon after the governing council announced the IPL 2019 fixtures, RCB posted their opening match information in style.
They posted it, “A spicy south Indian Derby for starters – but we prefer the sweet sambar… Our VIVO IPL 2019 begins away from Bengaluru on Day 1 #PlayBold”
Later, CSK came with a reply in that post where they pointed out the sambar colour.
CSK replied, “But sambar is always #Yellove in colour no?”

CSK and RCB rivalry
The three-time IPL champions CSK will begin the new season as the defending champion. After completing their two-year suspension, CSK returned to the IPL in last season. However, they continued their dominant performances once again and won the tournament for the third time, after 2010 and 2011. Also, they have always finished in the top four in all their nine IPL seasons, including seven finals.

On the other hand, RCB hasn’t won the IPL trophy yet but has finished as the runners-up for thrice (2009, 2011 and 2016). In most of the times, RCB starts the IPL season as one of the favourite sides, sometimes they perform superbly, but still, they haven’t surpassed the final hurdle at least once. In the last two seasons, RCB finished in the eighth and sixth position respectively (both were the eight teams’ tournaments).

CSK and RCB have met 22 times in IPL history where CSK won 14 matches, and RCB won seven games (the other one had no result).
