On Wednesday (17th June), the popular Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suspended their Team Doctor Dr Madhu Thottappillil due to his recent personal tweet on the India-China border tension which the franchise team remarked as the bad taste.
In a recent India-China border clash on the last Monday (15th June) night, 20 Indian Army personnel, including a Commanding Officer, were martyred. In over last 50 years, it was one of the worst clashes between the Indian Army and Chinese troops.
After that clash news was trending, the CSK Team Doctor Dr Madhu Thottappillil tweeted through his official account, “Just curious if the Coffins will come back with a “PM CARES” sticker on them?”

CSK clarified that they were not aware of that personal tweet
It became a very controversial tweet, and the CSK franchise soon decided to take action against their Team Doctor.
In the recent statement, CSK has clarified that they were totally unaware of that tweet, and they also remarked that tweet as the bad taste. The report further added that they suspended Dr Madhu Thottappillil from the Team Doctor position.
The CSK statement claimed, “The Chennai Super Kings Management was not aware of the personal tweet of Dr Madhu Thottappillil. He has been suspended from his position as the Team Doctor. Chennai Super Kings regrets his tweet which was without the knowledge of the Management and in bad taste.”

Since the first edition of the IPL, Dr Madhu Thottappillil, who is a specialist in sports medicine, was with the CSK team.
On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is very much hopeful to organise the postponed IPL 2020, especially when the Cricket Australia (CA) Chairman has recently claimed that hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia in this year is very much unrealistic.
The IPL franchises are also hopeful about the IPL 2020. Still, the final talks about the IPL 2020 can happen only after the final decision from the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020.
