Dale Steyn Reacts to Glenn McGrath’s Comments over Jimmy Anderson

Dale Steyn, South African fast bowler, has finally reacted on the comment of Glenn McGrath on England fast bowler James Anderson.

Meanwhile, Anderson is on the brink of making history in Test cricket. Anderson has 557 Test wickets, just six fewer than McGrath’s haul, which is the most wickets in Tests by a fast bowler.

However, Glenn McGrath recently revealed once Anderson goes past him, the record will be unbroken.

Jimmy Anderson deserves everything he gets. Even though he is an Englishman I will be delighted for him when he goes past my record and becomes the most prolific fast bowler in Test history,” he wrote in Britain’s Daily Mail.

I have an awful lot of respect for Jimmy. Good luck to him. I believe once he goes past me he will never be beaten,” Glenn McGrath added.

The legendary fats bowler also revealed that he would be equally proud of James Anderson for achieving such feat.

Records are nice and I’ve been very proud to have taken more wickets than any fast bowler in Test history. But any high is there to be beaten and I will be equally proud of Jimmy when he goes past me because the fast bowlers’ union has to stick together, whichever country we come from,” McGrath added.

Meanwhile, the official Circle of Cricket account shared the quote on Instagram, and Dale Steyn commented on the same.

The South African seamer believes things would have been different if they played more games than others.

A fan had earlier reacted to the post which made Steyn share his views.

The fan wrote, “If only Dale Steyn wasn’t injury ridden. Pity.”

On which, Steyn replied, “Even without injury it would be tough to beat. Eng and Aus average 16-20 Tests a year, SA average 10-12.”

Dale Steyn further added that he wants to see the current budding South African fasters like Kagiso Rabada to break Anderson’s record.

Cheers Bud! Appreciate It. Let’s hope we get more games so guys like KG etc have a chance at being not just local legends, but world greats,” he concluded.
