The 39-year-old Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria wants to return to domestic cricket. Recently, he wrote a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) where he sought permission to play domestic cricket.
Danish Kaneria, who served for the Pakistan national cricket team between 2000 and 2010, has been banned by the PCB after his involvement was proved in the 2009 spot-fixing scandal in the English County cricket when he was serving for the Essex.
Now, the veteran leg-spinner has requested to the PCB to write to the Chairman of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to allow him to play in the domestic cricket.

The letter stated, which was written by his lawyer, “PCB has the authority to write to the Chairman ACU thereof making a request at the behest of our client to grant him permission to play and participate in domestic cricket, or any related activity thereof.”
The lawyer also added that Kaneria suffered unimaginable and incomprehensible hardships, both professionally and personally, due to this banned. In that letter, the lawyer also pointed out that Kaneria’s sole source of income has vastly been affected.
Danish Kaneria has shown his willingness to undergo any and all educational, rehabilitative, or any other related programs
To return to the game, Kaneria is ready to undergo any and all educational, rehabilitative, or any other related programs.

The letter added, “Kaneria has shown his willingness to undergo any and all educational, rehabilitative, or any other related programs. In light of the above submissions, you are hereby requested to exercise the power given to you under the Code and address the Chairman ACU to grant our Client permission to participate in domestic cricket or activities related thereof as our Client is willing to undergo any and all programs as the same are willing and cooperate to the best of his abilities.”
Kaneria last time played a recognised match in March 2012. He played 206 first-class matches, 167 List A games and 65 T20s where he picked up 1024, 262 and 87 wickets respectively.

In his international career, Danish Kaneria played 61 Tests, and 18 ODIs, where the leg-spinner took 261 and 15 wickets respectively. He is still the most Test wicket-taker for Pakistan as a spinner. In the Test career, Kaneria managed to claim 15 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls. His last international match was against England during the 2010 Nottingham Test.
