On Tuesday, Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has slammed PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) for destroying his cricketing career.
Kaneria has featured in international cricket for Pakistan cricket team during 2000-2010. The leg-spinner has played 61 Tests and 18 ODIs for Pakistan. However after that, he was dropped from Pakistan cricket team due to inconsistency performances.
In 2012 when Kaneria was playing for Essex in English county championship, he was alleged for spot-fixing along with his Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield. Kaneria suffered life-banned for that while Westfield was jailed in that year along with suffering banned from professional cricket for some years.
In a recent Skype Interview with Uttarpradesh.org, Kaneria expressed his thought over not playing for Pakistan. He said that he is glad to have played for the Pakistan national team and received a lot of fan support in his career. But according to him, some people in the PCB were unhappy with his success. Kaneria was also mourning the fact that while PCB is putting a lot of effort to relive convicted people like Mohammed Amir, Salman Butt, and Mohammad Asif, yet they are doing nothing for his revival.
Kaneria told APP about PCB, “Some people in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not like me and treated me as an alien as I was progressing in the game.”
After that, Kaneria also slammed the ECB by saying that despite not having enough proof to him, they alleged him in the match-fixing scandal. Kaneria also accused the ECB of discrimination towards him.
Kaneria said, “If anything, the permission by the England and Wales Cricket Board to allow special treatment to Westfield, confirms their bias and discrimination towards me throughout this case.”
